Pinterest, Buttons and Codes

I am  Pinterested in Pinterest right now.  If you have not set up an account yet, please check it out.  You will not regret it.  Not only is Pinterest good for you, it can be great for your blog, website even videos!  Each day I see tons of people saying that their greatest source of traffic is now Pinterest over twitter, StumbleUpon or Facebook.  That is HUGE
The problem is, for a site that is so huge on sharing,
it is not the easiest site to implement into your site.

After a long time spent finding the code, I finally have the little PinIt button in my GetSocial plugin that floats in the left side of my page and I could not be happier!

Now I do not have to worry about going to each individual post and choosing a URL and image.  Having it right there with the other sharing options makes it available on each and every post I have ever written.

I finally found the code snippet you will need at Chykalohpia and then I just changed it a little to get what I wanted.

The Magic Pinterest Code

If you want the PinIt button at the end of your post with other social media sharing buttons like twitter or facebook you have a few choices.

Pin It” Button

←  Add this link to your Bookmarks Bar
To install the “Pin It” button in Chrome:
  1. Display your Bookmarks by clicking the Wrench Icon > Tools > Always Show Bookmarks Bar
  2. Drag the “Pin It” button to your Bookmarks bar
  3. When you are browsing the web, push the “Pin It” button to pin an image
Once installed in your browser, the “Pin It” button lets you grab an image from any website and add it to one of your pinboards. When you pin from a website, we automatically grab the source link so we can credit the original creator.

The follow buttons act similarly to any linked image on your site. They can be used inline with your content, or as part of a sidebar.

Pin It Button for Web Sites

Add a Pin It button to invite your readers to pin your work onto Pinterest.
The Pin It button is made to look and feel like the Facebook and Twitter buttons your readers already use. For best results, place the Pin It button near your other social sharing tools.

Descriptions are optional but recommended; they will make pinning much easier for your users.

Add this code to your page, right where you want the button to appear:
Add this code to your page only once, directly above the closing </BODY> tag:
Important: you can have as many Pin It buttons on a page as you like, but you only need to include the JavaScript once!
